Got Protection?

I decided to do some research regarding abortion statistics. What I found is that this is more than just the  “Women’s Issue” slogan that gets tossed around in politics.  We have WOMEN and MEN in this country that are having unprotected sex, multiple times, when HIV and STDs can be a death sentence.  This issue is not just about birth control; this is about using protection that can prevent disease and possible death. Women should not trust men to be responsible for using protection (I am not going to call it birth control, because it isn’t just about birth control.); likewise, men should be responsible for using protection as well.

If you believe that a woman should be independent and be self-reliant, then doesn’t it make sense to teach a woman to be responsible for her own sexual health?   Health Departments offer free and low-cost contraceptives and protection.  Ultimately, the issue isn’t about availability; it is about responsibility.

The abortion statistics below are an indication of our failure as a society to educate people on how to protect themselves, our failure as a society to educate women that being in control of your own body begins with using protection, and our failure as a society to allow abortion to become a political ploy to get votes.

55.6% – 0 known number of previously induced abortions
Please correct my math and logic if I am wrong, but 44.4% of 2008 Abortions were NOT first time abortions.
Based on these numbers, then can I assume that only about 11% of women will not return for another abortion?

25.3% – 1 known number of previously induced abortions
11.1% – 2 known number of previously induced abortions
8.0% – 3 or more known number of previously induced abortions

41.4% 0 known number of previously induced abortions (Based on these numbers, then 58.6% of 2007 abortions were not first time abortions.)
26.3% – 1 known number of previously induced abortions
19.5% – 2 known number of previously induced abortions
8.3% – 3 known number of previously induced abortions
4.5% – > 4 known number of previously induced abortions

2006 Statistics Not much changed from 2006 to 2007.

41.3% 0 known number of previously induced abortions
26.4% – 1 known number of previously induced abortions
19.5% – 2 known number of previously induced abortions
8.3% – 3 known number of previously induced abortions
4.4% – > 4 known number of previously induced abortions

Got Protection?

Look at the stats. Do your own research. Think critically and make up your own mind.
